MAA Target 900

The MAA Target 900 is held each summer. The hosting club is chosen by the MAA at the end of the previous year and announced by the MAA as early as possible - usually in December or January. Below you can find out more information about the shoot. You can also visit the MAA web site for more information.

What time does the shoot start?
A

Shooting starts at 10:00 AM on Saturday and 9:00 AM on Sunday. You can pre-register or register the day of the shoot and pay an additional $5.

How much does it cost ?
A
Pre-Registration fees are $15 Adult/Senior, $ 7.50 Youth, $35 Family. Pro fee is normal fee plus an additional $25.

Can I shoot in my division?
A
Yes. You can shoot as a Pro, Adult, Senior (55+), Young Adult (15-17), Youth (12-14) Cub (11-)

What styles can I shoot ?
A
You can shoot; Free Style (FS), FreeStyleLimited (FSL), BowHunterFreeStyle (BHFS), BowHunterFreeStyleLimited (BHFSL), BareBow (BB), BowHunterBareBow (BHBB), Traditional (TRAD) or FreeStyleLimitedRecurve (FSLR)

What distances are shot?
A
Archers shoot from 40, 50 & 60 meters.

How are the target setup?
A
The 900 round is either setup so the archers move toward the target after each distance (walk-up) or the targets are moved after each distance. This depends on the hosting facility. Target butts are arranged in one line 10 feet apart. Archer shoot in groups of 4 with each archer having a 2-1/2 foot shooting box. Archers start at the 60 meter line. When all the arrows are shot at the 60 meter distance archers move to the 50 meter line and finish at the 40 meter line.

What targets are used ?
A

The 122 cm FITA target is used at each distance with all four archers sharing the same target face for each distance.

What is the format for the tournament?
A

A round consist of 5 ends of 6 arrows each at each distance for a total of 90 arrows or perfect daily score of 900 points. Standard FITA scoring rules are in place with arrows counting as X or 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 or miss (M). The number of X's shot is tracked on the score card and used as a tie breaker.

What distances will my son or daughter shot?
A

CUBS (11 and under) shoot 10, 20 & 30 meters
YOUTHS (12-14) shoot 30, 40 & 50 meters.
YOUNG ADULTS (15-17) shoot 40, 50 & 60 meters

Do I have to shoot both days?
A
Yes. The tournament consist of two 900 point rounds. The first day ranks the shooters who are then paired together for the second day to determine the winner of each division.

What accommodation are available?
A
